Zwift Tuesday Night Worlds (US/East) Training Race Report 2015-12-01

More than 60 riders showed up to this weeks EST Tuesday Night Worlds training race. Zwift's current iteration of drafting seemed to break the groups up more, with mostly groups of four or fewer circulating the course during the race.

Newcomer L. Grootenboer represented the women this week, racing with the C group. She took the women's win as the only finisher.

In the Group A race S. Weiss mercilessly pushed the pace, establishing a break with R. Harper and G. Staley after the first set of climbs. Not content with this, he pushed the pace again on the next set of climbs, going off solo for the last lap. He stretched out his lead over the remainder of the race, winning with a lead of almost a minute over R. Harper. G. Staley came in shortly after in third.

F. Iha won the B race with a performance that might indicate technical issues. S. Oxenham rolled in in second, with A. Gagnon taking the third place.

F. Hartman put in a massive effort on the final straight to hold a gap of 8 seconds over B. Haggett. P. Ferguson finished in third a little over a minute later.

D. Jukes put in an impressive effort despite a late start to take the D group win. By the end of the race he had worked himself up to the top 10 of the C group.

  1. Where does the race timing start? At the start/finish line or at some other point on the course?

  2. The race timing starts at the sprint line (i.e. the end of the neutral). Here is the Strava segment: http://www.strava.com/segments/10383995.

The timing is pretty much just for entertainment value. It's somewhat approximate anyway due to the way Zwift writes the .fit file.

  3. The top 3 in the B race were faster than Scotty in the A race. ..sigh.....

    1. This is actually just a Zwift artifact. F Iha was actually a few minutes slower than his Strava time indicated. I didn't think anyone would notice :).
